Offshore wind

Offshore wind energy has many advantages compared to onshore wind. The wind resource is large and the wind speed is greater. In addition, more space and visibility from the coast is low, so it generates less visual impact. However, the complexity of civil engineering at sea leads to high installation costs and maintenance.

Currently in Spain there is no installed offshore wind farm, although there are plans to install wind farms in Galicia, Tarifa and the Delta del Ebro.

Capabilities

Wind maps are drawn to the areas of greatest interest in the whole of Spanish maritime, and determined the potential of offshore wind bathymetry data available one high spatial resolution.
